Munich Show, May 2019

Alester Kells

Munich is always the biggest show on the calendar and this year was as busy as ever, 4 days of mayhem whilst the show is on as well as the setup and breakdown afterwards. In total the show takes up a week of time. Once again we were with Audia Flight Amplifiers, Verity Loudspeakers, Cardas Cables and HiFi Man headphones.

At the entrance to the exhibition centre is the giant High End Show Balloon.

I don’t usually show the space before we have set up but it can give an idea of what we see when we arrive. It feels quite daunting, we have 2 days to complete the display (along with setting up other rooms).

48 hours later and we have a fully built up display ready to show our products.

This was another corner display we had opposite our main display. At the front is the Signature XReference, the columns are just polished and the SVT shelf is Nextel  coated for even better performance. We also showed our Q4Midi rack, neatly seated at the end on the right hand side, very useful for half width equipment.

The Moon by Sim Audio room sported 3 single XRefrerence stands with an extra large SVT shelf in black Bamboo, very eye catching!

Kudos also used our SV2T with a Naim system and Vertere turntables, also making some amazing music.

Bristol Show, March 2019

This years Bristol Show was a real hive of activity and we were kept very busy. We once again demonstrated the Qplus along with our XReference rack in a more striking orange, this was a one off but attracted quite a lot of attention. We also showed our smaller Midi Qube for LP storage. Equipment was kindly supplied by Rega, Kudos and The Chord Company. The new Rega P8 turntable with Ania cartridge through the Aria phono stage into the Osiris amplifier powered the new Kudos Titan 505. Signature interconnects and Epic speaker cable connected it all together.
Once again it was a pleasure to play records for the weekend, mainly music from the 80’s but we had no complaints!

There were several XReferences used, The Chord Company and Proac loudspeakers were amongst the many along with these below.

ATC also used the XReference with their new range of electronics, speakers and a Helios turntable.

Atlas cables also used the XReference to house their equipment when demonstrating their cables with Mark Levinson and PMC.

Windsor Show, November 2018

Alester Kells

Windsor is our last show of the yer and it is a great venue, sadly this will be its final year at the Beaumont Estate, next year it will be moving to Ascot. The hotel is of limited size and the number of people visiting has grown so much over the last few years that it needed a larger venue , promises to be interesting.
We brought along 3 XReferences for the show, our own room plus two others as well as a lot of Qplus. This year we ran a very big system with CAD front end, CH Precision amplification and Wilson Benesche speakers. It was a great sounding system and we had a very busy room.

Peter from Planalogue and Brian from Graham Audio/Exposure used the XReference and Qplus.

Padood also used the XReference for their SME model 15 turntable along with a Boulder amplifier pre and power.
I think some Nagra snook in there too!

The Signals show in Ipswich is a very interesting show, the Trinity Park venue is a unique site and there is plenty of room for everyone, makes for an enjoyable show. We have larger rooms and a lot more space to play with. We shared with ATC loudspeakers who provided amplification and CD source. Analogue front end was courtesy of Dave Speirs from HEADS, with the amazing  looking Helius turntable. A Melco streamer provided our stored music with the ATC pre/CD player/DAC acting as the hub for our system.

Xreference loaded up with sources and pre amp.

Active ATC 100 speakers easily filled the large room!

The Phaedra arm, very organic looking and beautifully made. Sounded amazing too!

This was our first outing to the Swiss High End show in Zurich. The weekend was busy and our room was constantly full. Our distributer MGM audio and Artisan Audio had arranged for our ample room. We equipment partnered with PMC loudspeakers, SME turntables, Bryston and Boulder amplifiers along with Crystal Cable. PMC launched their new Finestria loudspeaker which was stunning. SME had their new Synergy turntable in white, a world first for them.

SME Synergy in white on the left Xreference with Bryston streamer, DAC and preamp. A PSaudio regenerator sits at the bottom supplying clean power to the equipment. The right hand rack has the SME model 30 with the Boulder pre amp and another PSaudio regenerator. Middle Q4 Midi rack has the SPL preamp and network devices. Three systems can be run from this setup.

The room filling up. The PMC Finestria is the largest speaker in the set, with the MB2 next to them and the twenty5 26 which look tiny but are quite a large speaker!. Power amplifiers by Boulder, Bryston and SPL are set in the centre. The Bryston’s have Qplus reference sat under them too.

Different angle looking at the speakers from the back of the Xreference over the SME Synergy and the model 30.

We attended the Festival of Sound in Hammersmith, which had a name change from last year and proved to be a very  popular show. Along with hifi systems there were talks by prominent people from the recording industry and live performances

Setup for the Festival of Sound. Using Auralic streamer, Vertere Turntable with Parasound amplifiers and Cabasse speaker all on our Xreference. Qplus was added to the streamer to further improve performance. Sounded great!

Our Qplus display with the Qplus reference, Qplus Advance and Qplus Evo. Space was a little tight in the room but we managed to squeeze it in

Martin from The Chord Company demonstrating their cables. They used our Xreference with one of our longest columns to accommodate the amazing sounding Sugden masterclass power amplifier.

Innuos showed off their new Statement music server on a black Xreference, partnered with our SVT mono stands for the Chord amplification. KEF Reference speakers finished off the system.

We attended the Cranage show again this year with Brian and Trevor’s House of Hifi. This is a great venue in the beautiful Cheshire countryside, well worth a visit. A wide variety of exhibitors and some great systems. We used an Active Linn system with REL subwoofers, which made a modest size speaker system fill our large room. The Booplinth was on demonstration along with our Xreference and the Qplus reference.  A busy turnout made for a great weekend.

The Munich HiFi Show 2018

Alester Kells

3rd June 2018

Munich is the biggest show on our calendar and every year seems busier than the last. As we share with our distributer we have some great colleagues for the duration from all around the world, Audia Flight disc players and amplifiers from Italy, Verity Audio Loudspeakers from Canada, Cardas Cables from USA. HiFi Man Headphones from China and Meters headphones from England. All of us work together and socialise for the show so you need to be good friends! Here are some in pictures of the days we were there. Munich is a beautiful city and the show is mind boggling in size, definitely worth a trip if you haven’t been. Next stop on the calendar is the NorthWest Hifi show at Cranage, once again we will be demonstrating our products and we will be sharing with good friends Brian & Trevor from the House of HiFi. A really nice show in beautiful surroundings, free entry too.

Our Friend and model Hannah Owen looks great on the XReference.

Always happy to have my picture with Angela Cardas, those were a killer set of heels!

Luxman room with Quad electrostatics and our SV2T in white.

The Innuos room with Kii loudspeakers and XReference rack, this was a great demo of their products.

Ceilings in Munich railway stations make for a great picture, here we are with our friends from Meters.

The Bristol HiFi Show 2018

Alester Kells

3rd March 2018

The Bristol show this year was once again very busy, we by way of departure had no racks on demonstration in our room. It was a bold move but helped show the new Qplus range. The Qplus  is designed to work on non dedicated performance audio furniture and make equipment perform like it is on one of our dedicated supports. We used our HiFi Qube as a platform to demonstrate them. The Reference Qplus is being used here under a Rega P10 and a Devialet Expert Pro 220. We also used Kudos S10 loudspeakers along with The Chord Company and Audioquest cables. Although we had no racks in our room the range could be found in multiple rooms throughout the show. Terry from Pursuit Perfect Systems was once again on hand to take footage of the demonstration and feedback from listeners, you can follow this link to see more, I still feel very camera shy!

The Windsor HiFi show Live

Alester Kells

21st November 2017

The Windsor HiFi show Live was a brilliant success this year. The weekend seemed to rush by at a very busy show. We shared our room with CAD, perfect for demonstrating the effects of electrical grounding with their new GC1 and GC3 product. Then mechanical grounding with our supports. Trilogy supplied the amplification, Kudos the 707 loudspeakers and Atlas with cables for our room. One of the demonstrations was filmed by Terry at Pursuit, the end of the video shows a direct quick switch between our glass shelf and an XReference, you can hear the difference on a phone! Here is a link and I apologise for my nervousness, not great in front of a camera.

Update from The Indulgence Show
& Upcoming Windsor Show

Alester Kells

4th October 2017

August was a quiet month at the factory as the industry slows down and we can enjoy the great British weather!
Everything slows down a little but as we move into autumn there are a few shows left on the calendar. We attended the Indulgence show in London Hammersmith last weekend, although we did not officially exhibit there were a number of rooms using our XReference and the SV2T. The show is now in its second year with all manner of goodies on show, not just hifi. Notable talks by some serious people in the recording industry was one of the highlights that proved interesting.

Indulgence Show 2017 : XReference in the Ultimate Streams room

Indulgence Show 2017 : XReference in the Innuos room with Goldmund Loudspeakers

Indulgence Show 2017 : XReference in The Chord Company room

Indulgence Show 2017 : SV2T with Michell and Proac

Our next official show will be Windsor. We will be demonstrating along with CAD using Kudos loudspeakers. The Windsor show has been a great venue for the last few years and I hope this year proves successful once again. We will demonstrate the difference a dedicated equipment stand makes while CAD will be demonstrating their new grounding devices. We hope you can make it there.

Updates from Munich & Northwest Audio Shows

Alester Kells

14th July 2017

The Munich show this year was our best to date. People from around the world descended upon the MOC. Four days went by very quickly in a bustling and product filled show. Amongst our own products was a new small addition to our line up, small but with big performance. We showed our new Qplus which is due for release later this year. Offering high end performance near to the XReference it is designed to work under high end equipment when a stand is not an option, designed to sit under the feet of any component.

Moving back to the UK we also attended the Northwest Audio Show at Cranage. The event has moved into two days and also proved extremely busy. Partnering with Brian and Trevor's house of Hifi, Booplinth and the Chord Company we spent the two days demonstrating the differences all of our products make to a full room, time and time again. HiFi Pig also have also run coverage of the show at their online magazine. Well worth a look if you couldn’t attend.

The Vinyl Experience

Alester Kells

6th January 2017

As it's back to work and 2017 is underway it has been nice to read how vinyl sales last year were the best in 25 years. I still remember collecting when all my friends had switched to cd and I'm showing no signs of stopping. More and more show exhibitors are using vinyl and it will be something we will do too as we have products dedicated to vinyl and it's storage. I wonder if the sales this year will outstrip last year? Hopefully it will be a good year for music and the audio industry.
